UDC Urban Drainage Company launches a new “valve-type water collection system” with the additional design of the garbage net, which keeps the sewer from clogging and the water on the road can escape. Since then, the water intake door has no odor, helping to ensure urban beauty.

Currently, the design of water gates in use in the city has narrow doors, leading to the situation that water does not drain quickly causing prolonged flooding. Not only that, the mechanism of preventing odors by water is no longer appropriate because the mouth of the collecting mouth is polluted by the garbage of people.

Because of this situation, UDC Urban Sewerage Company has launched a new type of valve-type water collection system with the design of additional garbage screens, to prevent sewers from being blocked and water on the road can escape.

This water collection system is designed with three parts: water collection hole, one-way valve and garbage net. Collecting holes and aqueduct ditches made of reinforced concrete, perform the function of collecting, conducting water, not storing water. One-way valves help prevent odors from escaping from drains. In addition, the valve is made of composite material with light weight and high durability, ensuring effective odor prevention, regardless of weather. mixed, suitable for all types of roads and residential areas in the city.

When surface water overflows into the manhole, the check valve will be opened. After that, the valve system is automatically closed so the odor does not rise from the sewer. Each new water outlet also has a minimum water collection area of 0.336 m2, ensuring the ability to collect all surface water for roads.

On each water outlet, there is a propaganda that “do not leave garbage here, rubbish to block sewers causing flooding” to affect people’s sense of litter. In addition, this new type of water intake takes up a small area of road surface, sidewalk, underground space, which is suitable for the ground conditions to ensure urban beauty.

Besides, the new water intake door has a simple structure, easy to install, no sedimentation at the collection pit. Therefore, there is no need to dredge sludge with multiple cycles per month. With special operation mechanism of new type of water intake, the bigger the rain, the more clean the water collection hole.

When this system was put into operation in 2017, UDC Urban Sewerage Company has piloted a new type of water intake at 03 roads: Truong Dinh (district 3), Vinh Khanh (district 4), and Le Van Tho, and 01 alley 385 Le Van Tho, Go Vap District. The cost for this smart sewer system is about 8.3 million, not including installation. The maintenance and maintenance of this system is also relatively easy, cost-effective.

So far, these localities all appreciate the effectiveness of the new water collection system. In particular, according to District 4 People’s Committee, this system has performed very well in collecting water, preventing odors and ensuring urban beauty for Vinh Khanh road. Therefore, District 4 People’s Committee also issued a written request for installation, replacing all remaining manholes in the district with this new product.

Not only that, seeing the efficiency of this system, Ho Chi Minh City Vice Chairman Tran Vinh Tuyen asked the Department of Transportation to coordinate with the City Control Center to continue flooding to select some routes. The road has a degraded drainage system to continue piloting this new type of water intake.
