The Makerthon Programming Contest 2018 is a competition for youths and young scholars in the country to compete on producing technological products and ideas. The Center of Science and Technology Development – Union of HCMC organized the contest in collaboration with Quang Trung Software City Ltd.
This is a team-based competition. At the begining, contestants will have to go through Elimination Round where teams will present their projects before the Judging Panels. The judges and the Organizer Commitee will pick 36 distinguished projects to participate in the Finals.
At the Final Round, teams will be given 48 hours to complete their project. Contestants will be confined to the competing venue. The Organizer Committee will provide all the resources and accomodations necessary to complete their project. The theme of the competition is get teams to produce applications on mobile phone; Android or iOS, products comprise of circuits and processors, websites,… All entrant projects will be judge base on their practical applications and quality-of-life-improvement.
After 48 hours, the Judging Panels will pick 10 distinguished projects to move onto the presentation stage. Contestants will present their projects and answer questions from the judges. Contestants will be graded base on: Real Life Application, Commerciality, Technological Solution, and Presentation.

- 01 First place prize: 20,000,000 VND & Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Ho Chi Minh City Certification
- 01 Second place prize: 10,000,000 VND & Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Ho Chi Minh City Certification
- 01 Third place prize: 5,000,000 VND & Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Ho Chi Minh City Certification
- Consolation prizes : 1,000,000 VND & Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Ho Chi Minh City Certification
